May Monthly objective

Hi Guys sorry its a late monthly objective, but its a nice easy one this month anyway! So everyone should have a small little warband painted up now and now is the time to start your games and campaign in the Mortal Realms!

This month your objective is to play 2 linked games of Hinterlands or AoS Skirmish (should it drop in time), by linked games I mean, just continue the story or campaign over into the second game.

If you complete this objective you will receive 4 bonus tiles!

Also if you are new or haven't posted yet... get a blog post up and you'll gain an automatic 5 tiles!

Good luck everyone. Loving the progress so far

April Challenge Complete: Gut Rippa's Maniaks

Always to be found in the thickest of the fighting, the mob known as "Gut Rippa's Maniaks" are the embodiment of GorkaMorka's "Brutal, but Kunnin'" nature. Long ago having dispensed with such things as "taktiks", the Maniaks charge headlong into the foe, hacking and slashing with wild abandon.

Hinterlands: Praetorian452 vs Samurai Eduh

Knight-Azyros Halver Aura came out of his dive and started weaving through the ruined buildings. Within moments he had caught back up to the rest of the warband.

“Lord-Relictor Warden, I found the Ironjaws up ahead. They appear to be looking for something as well.”
“That does not bode well, Halver. What is your call? How shall we proceed?”
“Split up, We must deny these greenskins whatever they came for. After the loss on the mountain they can not be allowed to gain anymore power.”

                                                       ***************************
Warchanter ‘Ead Banga stomped up to the Brutes lounging in the sun. Before any of them realized it, the warchanter was right on top of them smashing each over the head with his Gorkstikk and Morkstikk.

“Get up ya gitz! Dis no time to be hangin ‘round! Dat Shakey Nob sent us here to get ‘im da scroll, and yous need to get wiff da pogram!”

The Brutes got up and started moving. In the distance there was a glint of light.

Da Cripple looked up and started yelling, “Oy, Boss! Dem shiney ‘umeys are up ahead! Des mus be afer dat fing Shakey be wanten.”

“Leggit, boys! Turns out we’s gonna have a fight! WAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The second game of the night was a game of Hinterlands between Ed and I. Hinterlands for those that don’t know is a fan made skirmish version of Age of Sigmar. It can be found on The Grand Alliance forum. I cannot recommend this variant enough. The games are short, but extremely fun. They push you to tactics that are lost in the grand battles of a regular game of Age of Sigmar, but still retain the essence of the greater game.

Samurai Eduh (Ed):
'Ead Banga - Warchanter
Gut Rippa - Brute Boss
Big Stabba - Brute
Da Cripple - Brute

2k Battle Report: Samurai Eduh's Ironjaws vs Praetorian452's Stormcast

Lord Celestant Harduoin surveyed the field from atop his Dracoth, Bilrai. He imagined he could see the power emanating from the points that the Mage Navarre Tralee had described. The Elf has claimed that he had a vision of Three places of Power being used to summon summon the aspect of Gorkamorka to bring more power to an Ironjaws warchief. With this power the warchief would become nearly unstoppable and could make great gains on Mount Dextros. The Elf said that they were needed elsewhere and couldn’t spare the detor.

The only reason he had agreed to this march was because Lord Veritant Neel had said he could sense a powerful wizard with the Ironjaws force. In his former life he had been a very effective witch hunter, so his word was more valuable to Harduoin than an Elf’s.

It didn’t take long before he heard the stomp of heavy armored boots, and the bellow of a mighty creature. Seeing the red plate of the Ironjaws marching onto the field filled Harduoin with the thrill of battle. He would show these creatures the might of Sigmar!

Ed and I met up for a game night and decided to get a 2000 point game in. Ed brought his freshly painted Maw Krusha to take on my Stormcast which has some new additions.

I apologize ahead of time, we only managed to get pictures of the first two turns.

Olrog Transformed

Since his transformation Olrog has set his mind on conquering the Great Green Torc as a staging post for his campaign to subjugate the Realms. The abundant life energy provides a perfect environment for apex predators to thrive which gives the Orruks plenty of sport and boosts their already awesome resilience. This is just a bonus however what Olrog really wants is the wealth of natural resources the Torc boasts. Resources he intends to plunder to fuel his Waaagh by manufacturing a mighty war machine to crush his foes. Malevolent as only a Waaagh crazed Orruk can be Olrog has not forgotten the wrongs done to him by the Amber Mage Thyios and control of the Torc's Realmgates will aid the hunt for his Nemesis.

The Order of the Fiery Gate - Battle Report: The Hidden Artefact

Folkvar-Grimnir sneered as he turned the baleful amulet in his hand. Shadows coalesced and writhed within a huge, blood-red ruby clasped within an ur-gold setting.

'Sacrilegious bastards...' spat Runesmiter Alsvir.

'I have seen its ilk before, my lord,' chimed in Aurelius Oathkeeper, Errant-Questor of the Black Wardens. 'Heathen warlords often use such gems to lend them great power in battle. They trap unclean souls within them and use the essence therein to empower themselves.'

'We shall have Runemaster Ruadhar destroy it safely,' the Runefather decided. 'Who knows what other trickery is concealed within-'

Folkvar-Grimnir was cut off by the peal of a barbarous horn reverberating throughout the surrounding woods.

'Orruks!' roared Runemaster Ruadhar, brandishing his staff in the direction of the forest. 'A whole bloody tribe of them!'

Immediately the duardin encampment burst into life. Berzerkers leaped to their feet and began forming up into individual units, weapons at the ready, whilst Fokvar-Grimnir and Alsvir both took to their mounts.

Battle Report: Groin Kikka's WAAAGH! vs. Scott Antos' Stormcast Eternals

Scott Antos and I (Samurai_Eduh) had a battle last night! We are both relatively new to the game, having played 40k for many years. This campaign seemed like a great opportunity to seriously get into AoS!

March Bonus Objective

Welcome to the first monthly objective!

March Objective!

Good Day everyone!

Welcome to Border Wars, an online Age of Sigmar map campaign run by HobbyHammer. A few have started introducing their armies which is great! So I thought now is a great time to put down a monthly objective.

This month is easy, paint up your General of your warband and post some pictures up on here with a back story as to why he is campaigning. If you complete this by the 28th March you will gain an extra 2 tiles of territory and also start expanding into Mount Dextros which currently has no one in it.

If you would like to see the territory your army has gained so far then head over to http://www.theriseofempires.com and keep track of them on the map.

Happy Blogging!

Da Waaagh of Megaboss Groin Kikka

"...AAAAGGGHHH!!!"

Groin Kikka looked around, feeling slightly confused. The monsterous Ice Golem he had been barreling towards just moments before was gone. Something else was different too. When the battle had begun, the snow was so deep his boyz were in it up to their waists, plowing through the drifts in their frenzy to get to grips with the enemy. Now, the snow was sparse enough to see the stony ground and patches of grass beneath.

With a tug on the reins, he brought his Maw Krusha, Snaggle Toof, to a halt. He looked behind him, expecting to see his boyz charging past him, but instead he saw a host of glittering statues, perfect replicas of a horde of charging Brutes. As he watched, several of the statues shattered, revealing the Orruk beneath. Each took a few running steps as if they were still rushing towards the enemy before stopping, confused as to where their foes had gone. The pile of shards each Brute left behind began melting, leaving the ground covered in small pools of cold water.

Slowly, Groin Kikka began to remember the events of the last several weeks. His warband had been fighting across what the humies of this land called Da Great Green Tork. His boyz had fought their way to the foot of an immense mountain range where local myths claimed great ice creatures dwelt. Sensing this as a place he could find a good scrap, Groin Kikka ordered his warband into the frozen mountain passes.

It was during a howling blizzard that the inhabitants of this frozen wasteland attacked. Hordes of creatures who appeared to be made of pure ice rose up from where they had lain under the snow and laid into the Orruks with savage fury.  Massive creatures, also seemingly made of ice, also emerged and crushed Brutes under smashing fists or froze them solid with blasts of magical energy. It was one of these creatures that Groin Kikka last remembered barreling towards.

It seemed that the ice creatures had moved on, and the perpetual winter of this place had moved on with them. How long had he and his warband been frozen, sleeping while time passed them by? Days? Weeks? It didn't really matter, he thought. However much time had passed, he and his warband were free from their icy imprisonment. As soon as the rest of his warriors thawed, he would be back on the warpath.

Looking down the mountain and into the temperate plains below, he could see what he thought were armies on the march. Thick plumes of smoke rose from what must be burning town and villages. Groin Kikka's face cracked into a fanged smile. No matter how much time had passed, there would still be a good scrap to get into down there. Maybe the peoples of Da Great Green Tork had forgotten about da Great Boss Groin Kikka. It was time to descend from the mountains and bring a great WAAAGH! to these lands once more.

Olrog Iron Ead, Prophet of the Waaagh

Hello I'm Ollie.

I am continuing to build the narrative for Olrog Iron Ead, Prophet of the Waaagh.  Continuing his story from the Realm Hoppers campaign as he attempts to forge a mighty Greenskin Empire for the glory of Gorkamorka

Olrog was bored and irritable. It had been over a week since he smashed up the pansys and became a Prophet of the Waaagh.  For the entire time he had Gork (or perhaps Mork) raving in the back of his mind urging him to create an empire of green flesh and glorious mayhem. Despite his ascension Olrog had not lost his keen (for an Orruk) intellect or his grasp of strategy. The Waaagh energy coursing through his body meant he was now revered as religious icon by the Boyz but they didn't respond to him in the same way anymore. He needed to find a Warboss to lead his armies in his stead.

His lieutenants were no use. Bolg didn't have it in him to lead any more especially considering the kicking he'd received from the Pansy's Thunder Umie allies. Ringoz and Gaztrukk were lunatics he might as well choose one of his Bonesplitter bodyguard as either of that pair.

Luckily a number of rival Orruk Warband a had come to his notice. Olrog was sure he could "persuade" one these aspiring Warbosses to join him and who knows maybe a gain few extra Boyz into the bargain.

Welcome to The Border Wars! - The Rules

Rise of Empires: Border Wars

The Rules of the Campaign

Welcome to Border Wars, the third chapter in the Rise of Empires Age of Sigmar supplements. What a year it has been for the narrative side of Age of Sigmar. Since the last map campaign, we have had a few sell out narrative events in UK and US. Also the Wednesday Warhammer TV narrative game has shown people how awesome it is is play in this more open way.

So What is Border Wars?

I have developed the campaign maps (examples below) to show each armies current territory. Each time your army progresses by posting battle reports or introducing a new unit to the army, this territory will expand. There is 4 maps to fight your battles over, The Nomad Chasm, The Great Green Torc, The Castle of Scorned Hope and Mount Dextros, these maps track your individual progress. If your Alliance controls the majority of the map, the main overview map will show your alliance in control of that region.

There is a flip side to this, if someone doesn't post anything for a month, then their territory will decrease. Similarly, your territory could decrease if you go up against someone else in the Rise of Empires campaign and lose, if this happens it will depend on the outcome as to how much territory is lost and won.
